What to know in advance

Only two things, both solvable. Parking — the neighbourhood's real problem: the alleys are narrow, and most addresses require a car park on Jerusalem Boulevard or Eilat Street. Send us in advance where one can stop for two minutes to unload, and that is all that is needed. Neighbours — very close, and the houses are old; hence our recommendation here is low to medium volume and finishing by midnight. It does not limit the evening: the styles that suit this neighbourhood are built on closeness and precision rather than power anyway.

Timing in the neighbourhood

21:00–22:30 is the golden point: the crowd here arrives after a meal nearby — there are many restaurants within walking distance — and wants an evening that ends at a reasonable hour. After midnight is entirely possible, with no surcharge under the price list, but in these houses we prefer keeping the volume low. And if the evening begins at a restaurant on Shabazi Street, give us the hour the meal ends: we schedule backwards so the show lands right after dessert, and it works especially well here.

There is a common belief that a show needs room. In practice, two things happen in a small space that no budget can buy: the crowd sees every detail — an expression, a breath, a half-second pause — and nobody is "sitting at the back". A solo show is the natural default — the spaces are small and the crowd listens; a duo is possible only in houses with a large living room or a yard. Discretion in a small neighbourhood

In Neve Tzedek everyone knows everyone, and the street is narrow enough for people to see who goes where. So our procedure here is especially quiet: a short stop, everyday clothing, a single bag, and a direct entrance without searching for an address mid-alley. A brief description of the entrance in a message — "the green gate by the tree" — works better here than any house number.
